As we remember the events of this past Sunday, we celebrated Pentecost Sunday – the day that the Holy Spirit descended on the Apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ.
“On the day of Pentecost, all the believers were meeting together in one place. Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting. Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them. And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.” (Acts 2-1-5 NLT)
The Holy Spirit was given to the disciples (John 20:22) and made available to those who love and obey Him (John 14: 15-16). The Holy Spirit is the leader of Truth and is with you and will dwell in you. (John 14:17). Oh what an amazing gift this is for us, and the best part about it is, that as believers, we all have access to the Holy Spirit! Because of this, the Holy Spirit should be your business partner.
As business owners, we want to be aligned with the best and the brightest, and be connected with others that have successfully done what we are trying to do. This person or team of people can provide insight, and strategy to help move your business in the right direction. They can help you when you are troubled and need help with making important decisions, provide wisdom when you need understanding, and discernment about the types of relationships you should maintain. I’ve got good news; you have unlimited access to someone who can fill that position and more, it’s the Holy Spirit.
“When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own, but tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future! He will bring me glory by telling whatever he receives from me!” (John 16:13-14 NLT)
Wouldn’t you want to partner with someone who has direct access to God and knows the future! Consulting with the Holy Spirit and allowing him to guide every decision in your business is a blueprint for success. You should make a decision right to partner with the Holy Spirit.
What does partnering with the Holy Spirit look like?
- Spending the first part of your day in communion and devotion with God and inviting the Holy Spirit to communicate with you daily. (Psalm 5:3)
- Before you strategize or make any decisions – spend some quiet time with the Lord and ask Him to send you divine wisdom and strategy. Then sit still, listen, and take note of your thoughts for the next few minutes and throughout the day.
- Stop and pray before you do anything, consult with God on any and everything.
- Be open to hearing from God – it might sound like a whisper in your mind or your thoughts – but will soon recognize when the Holy Spirit is at work. God may even send your answers via a person, social media post, or a TV show. The point is to be expecting and waiting on an answer from the Holy Spirit.
